Mallinckrodt Grant Program

The University of Pittsburgh may submit one grant application to the Mallinckrodt Grant Program of the Edward Mallinckrodt, Jr. Foundation.  A grant from this program provides $60,000 per year in direct costs for three years.  No indirect costs are provided.  The funds are to be used to develop a new project to the point that it will be competitive for the awarding of external funding in the form of an R01 (or similar) grant.  An eligible applicant is an MD and/or PhD investigator who is in the first through fourth year of a tenure track position and who does not have current R01 funding.  See http://emallinckrodtfoundation.org/Guidelines.html for details.

Applications are due to the Foundation on August 1 of any given year.  Anyone wishing to be considered as an applicant for a Mallinckrodt grant must submit 1) a CV or NIH biosketch; 2) a one page description of the proposed project; and 3) a letter of nomination from his or her department chair (division chief, institute director) to Dr. Michelle Broido, Associate Vice Chancellor for Biomedical Research, by May 1 at 4:00pm.  If May 1 falls on a weekend, this material may be sent by the Monday immediately following that weekend.  This material must be sent to Dr. Broido c/o Ms. Selena Crawford, sac32@pitt.edu.

Internal deadline: 4:00 pm, May 1

Foundation deadline for full applications: August 1
